Dr. Joseph G. Whelan III of the Reproductive Endocrinology Associates of Charlotte has been reviewed and approved by NC Top Docs for 2024. He then pursued his passion for reproductive medicine, attending the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in Lexington, KY, where he obtained his M.D. Following this, he completed his residency at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, Richland Memorial Hospital, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Columbia, SC. Dr. Whelan further honed his expertise through a fellowship at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, specializing in Gynecology and Obstetrics, with a focus on Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility in Baltimore, MD.
With over 20 years of experience as an infertility specialist, Dr. Whelan has contributed significantly to the field, boasting over 15 presentations and publications. Currently, he serves as the Assisted Reproductive Technologies Practice Director for Reach Fertility, where he continues to make impactful strides in the realm of fertility treatment and care.
He has been part of the Reproductive Endocrinology Associates of Charlotte since 2004 after relocating from Virginia to the Charlotte area.
Dr. Whelan is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. In addition, he is currently a member of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, the Howard A. Kelly Surgical Society, the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, the Society of Reproductive Surgeons, and the European Society Human Reproduction and Embryology.
