Dr. Mark Wood is a board-certified orthopaedic sports medicine surgeon and a founding member of Wake Orthopaedics. He specializes in knee and shoulder injuries, including arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, shoulder instability, and minimally invasive ACL reconstruction. He also focuses on youth sports injuries, ACL prevention, and safe return-to-play strategies.

With over 20 years of experience caring for high school, collegiate, and professional athletes, Dr. Wood emphasizes patient education and involvement in the treatment plan to support optimal outcomes. He serves on multiple local sports programs and has held leadership roles at major tournaments, including the CONCACAF Women’s Soccer World Cup qualifier.

Dr. Wood is also an Adjunct Clinical Professor at UNC Orthopaedics and mentors research on ACL injuries in youth athletes, with presentations and publications at the local, regional, and national levels.
